Communications Manager

The Communications Manager will oversee all communications involving the organization, including developing and implementing a communications strategy. The individual will manage all aspects of internal and external communication, including public relations, media relations, internal communications, and social media. They will work closely and collaboratively with senior leadership and their respective counterparts to develop and deploy effective and impactful communications for all stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop and implement communication and social media strategy for internal and external communications, including digital and traditional mediums in partnership with the CMO
  • Build and maintain media relationships, crafting key messages and delivering regular briefings. Coordinate op-ed and byline submissions and speaking opportunities
  • Oversees corporate communications and branding in various online and print platforms
  • Advance corporate branding and through leadership initiatives, for both internal and external (Google profile, CruchBase, Built In Austin, etc.) digital properties.
  • Manager of social media resources and brand's social media activities including people management, planning, automation, advertising, content creation, publishing, engagement, and analytics.
  • Manage public relations (PR) to increase brand awareness and positively influence public perception, including agency, press release requirements and editorial calendar.
  • Develop, manage, and lead internal communications, including company newsletter, internal emails, All Hands Meetings, company-wide initiatives, culture committee, and other activities
  • Research and manage award applications
  • Ensure all company material has consistent messaging and branding
  • Collaborate with peers to execute a communication plan.
  • Publish communication updates and dashboard for senior leadership
  • Manage media and communications software and resources (Meltwater, Sli.do)
  • Coordinate SparkCognition community relations activities (e.g. Austin Sunshine Camps)

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, communications, or a related field
  • 4-6 years of experience in marketing, communications, and media relations
  • Must be a self-starter and able to independently move projects forward, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines, all with an attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, storytelling, as well as proofreading skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and juggle priorities based on the needs of the business
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively with counterparts in a cross-functional capacity
  • Strong analytical skills to review metrics and create reports
  • Experience pitching, writing op/eds and using media relations/PR software tools
  • Familiarity with various marketing platforms, channels, and best practices is a plus.
  • Comfortable working in a B2B technology business. SaaS, AI, and analytics knowledge are a plus.
  • Occasional travel may be required
