Anyscale is looking for a strong Engineering Manager to lead the Developer Productivity team.

The vision of this team is to improve the productivity and efficiency of the engineering team and process used at Anyscale. This includes building a best in class build system for both the open source Ray product and the proprietary Anyscale product. Ownership of continuous integration, continuous deployment to enable features like "automatic deploy on green", scaling them to handle growth of engineering team and minimizing and optimizing Mean time to Merge and Mean Time to Ship. The team will drive engineering requirements around design (and re-architecture) of tech stack to achieve these goals, applying sound engineering principles, operational discipline, and mature automation to our environments and the Anyscale codebase as we scale.

In this position, you will guide the vision, recruit, and enable a high-performing team. This team is critical to everything that Anyscale and Ray achieve and will play a pivotal role in the success of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the strategy of the Developer Productivity group at Anyscale
  • Develop a unified perspective on how to scale the continuous integration, continuous deployment across open source and proprietary products
  • Build a best in class build system to cover open source and proprietary products.
  • Evaluate build/buy options to determine the right strategic decisions to make short term and long term.
  • Hiring / Team Building: Recruit new employees and coach/mentor engineers
  • Focus on building and maintaining a culture of collaboration within the team
  • Communicate your work to a broader audience through talks, tutorials, and blog posts
  • Help us to build and shape a world-class company

Job Requirements

  • Experience building developer productivity teams
  • Solid engineering management experience leading productive, high-performing teams
  • Managing through other managers is a plus
  • Record of helping teams scale quickly while maintaining a good culture
  • A great track record of execution
  • Mindset towards achieving results, and excellent prioritization skills
  • Effective communication
