Flatiron Health K.K. is hiring a Japan Clinician to serve as a clinical and scientific specialist for the Flatiron Health K.K. team and our external stakeholders. Flatiron generates RWE by extracting, organizing and processing (through data harmonization and technology-enabled chart abstraction) raw information from hospitals’ clinical information systems (e.g., electronic health record systems). Flatiron clinicians are critical to this process, working with research partners to define scientific questions and the design of real-world datasets, advising Flatiron’s cross-disciplinary teams on how to process high-quality data from cancer patient records, and developing novel analyses and analytic methods. This Clinical Oncologist will closely work with the Japan Clinical Lead and collaborate with other Flatiron clinicians in the US and Europe, and will engage with scientific leaders in the field of oncology real-world data in Japan and globally, including  participating in collaboration discussions, creating documents related to clinical studies, authoring publications, and speaking at conferences.

  • Advise on RWE product scoping, data processing/collection methods, quality assurance, and analysis.
  • Support the engineering team to handle Flatiron Health K.K.’s data models (the data elements we collect, and how they are organized) based on Japanese clinical practice.
  • Support the Japanese clinical abstractor team (the people at Flatiron who collect information from unstructured data sources in medical records), adapting Flatiron’s US approach to Japan.
  • Support development of data processing rules/instructions for Japanese abstractors to follow when collecting data from unstructured data sources.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional Flatiron Health K.K. team including clinical professionals, engineers, biostatisticians, project managers, and business development members.
  • Work with Flatiron’s US and European clinical members to develop new research ideas and embed Flatiron US best practices in Japan.
