In this role, Zoox is looking for a candidate with a hands-on background in automotive lidar technology to manage our lidar team. You’ll be given the opportunity to guide the team to establish and execute our short-term and long-term lidar strategy. You’ll help to define technical trade spaces to enable cross-functional decision-making. In addition, you’ll work on a daily basis to assist the team when they’re blocked with technical challenges or supplier engagements, and you’ll help the team to define robust test plans, including tests for development, qualification, and incoming/outgoing quality. Ultimately, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that Zoox is able to deliver lidar hardware, end-to-end, to our vehicle platform.
Responsibilities
- M.S. or Ph.D. in physics, optics, or electrical engineering
- Minimum 3+ years experience working with automotive lidar systems
- Experience managing technical teams
Job Requirements
- Working knowledge of lidar physics and automotive lidar technology
- Technical leadership with a quantitative, data-driven mindset
- Fluent in cross-functional dependencies surrounding the integration of lidar technology into vehicle platforms
- Experience working with suppliers to unblock and drive desired technical outcomes
- An attitude toward mentorship, team-building, and cross-functional collaboration
- Clear and effective communication to upper-level management
