Manager, Field Quality

Quality manager is responsible for leading the field quality team to ensure that we have the right tools, the right procedures, and the right team to ensure that Zoox L3 & L5 vehicles meet our field quality and reliability expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the daily activities of the field quality team – including goal setting, performance management and professional development of team members
  • Managing the processing of parts returned from the field through receipt transactions to root cause investigation
  • Leading root cause investigations on failing systems and components through hands on inspection and measurement of failures with members of the field quality team and other cross-functional resources
  • Managing the Material Review Board and RMA processes ensuring cross functional alignment on nonconforming material disposition
  • Managing quality issue tracking and driving root cause analysis and corrective actions owned by the field quality team
  • Defining, collecting, and reporting the key performance indicators to drive improvements in the field performance of Zoox L3 & L5 fleet vehicles
  • Leading continuous improvement efforts to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of field quality team processes by curating a field quality capability roadmap that defines the current and future personnel, equipment and process needs
  • Collaborate with other members of the quality team to develop key quality specifications and procedures

Job Requirements

  • Experience managing a team of quality engineers and technicians in development through commercialization phases of the product and service lifecycle
  • Experience debugging and analyzing complex and urgent hardware quality issues found in fleet vehicles and working cross-functionally to contain and ultimately correct those issues
  • Demonstrated proficiency performing quality root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions
  • Experience with quality issue tracking and management systems (such as Jira)
  • Demonstrated experience driving quality initiatives and successfully delivering desired quality outcomes
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering or related technical field

Bonus Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience in quality engineering
  • Automotive experience at the OEM or Tier I level
  • Experience in start-up/product launch activities
