The mission of DeepMind is to solve intelligence, the Enterprise Engineering team work to design, develop and support world class infrastructure to accelerate our research progress, you will partner with a number of different teams within DeepMind, ranging from Production Studios, Robotics and more to ensure that our infrastructure consistently meets their needs.

We are seeking an individual with an incredibly deep level of knowledge to help support these systems, ensure facility uptime, manage core networks and help the team push the bounds to technology.

We are seeking a candidate with low level network skills who will work alongside the wider team to learn the SMPTE 2110 suite and eventually act as point of escalation for all media network troubleshooting.

This role will act as a point of contact between the Enterprise Engineering team and Google’s Network and security teams, the ideal candidate should have had experience working with secops engineers as well as network acquisition teams.

Reporting to the Enterprise Engineering Lead, you will help define and drive user requirements, be responsible for following design guidelines, assisting with technical design and acting as a point of technical escalation for global event spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as point of escalation for local systems issues
  • Act as point of contact between the Production Engineering and Google Network / Security Teams
  • Escalating issues to manufacturers as appropriate
  • Identifying and bridging technology gaps and working with equipment manufacturers to resolve.
  • Managing site upgrades to ensure operational stability
  • Supporting ad-hoc requirements from research teams
  • Ensure facility documentation is up to date and correct.
  • Generate the ideas required to solve a problem, even if the problem is ambiguous, and take full ownership of the solution; ability to take a vague project and organize it into clear goals and objectives, and break down larger projects / processes into sub-projects and sub-processes.
  • Ensure uptime and QOS across facilities by implementing both proactive and reactive support processes.

Job Requirements

  • You have experience working with high bandwidth, low latency networks
  • You have a deep understanding of L2 & L3, including but not limited to, IGMP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, ARP etc
  • You have a deep understanding of multicast networks and the unique challenges these face at scale, including but not limited to IGMP queries, PIM etc
  • You are able to troubleshoot and analyse network behaviors using packet capture and inspection tools
  • You have experience working with fibre based networks, understand MTP/MPO technologies
  • You have experience working with high profile live productions
  • You have a logical approach to troubleshooting
  • Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization
  • Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others
  • Finally, you are excited to push the boundaries of technologies, identifying gaps in technology and working with equipment manufacturers to fill them
