The OpenAI Software Engineering Residency is a great opportunity for those with an engineering background who would like to become immersed in artificial intelligence and deep learning. We are looking for candidates with engineering experience in fast-paced environments.
Responsibilities
As a Resident on the Software Engineer track, you will work closely with machine learning researchers to accelerate their work, although you do not need to be a machine learning expert yourself. You will have the opportunity to work with teams to build systems from ideation to launch, contribute engineering insight to build infrastructure for data collection, learn how to run large scale machine learning experiments, and explore how engineering can further AI research.
Job Requirements
- Have proficiency in programming languages
- Have industry experience as a software engineer in a fast-paced role
- Have a strong math background and understanding of linear algebra, calculus, and statistics
- Be available and interested in joining OpenAI full-time after completing the Residency
- Have taken the initiative to jump right in and begin self-study of the fundamentals of ML
- Motivated to discover AI breakthroughs and their potential benefits to humanity
