Role Summary
This role is focused on using data intelligence to drive strategic business insights and support decision-making at the executive level. The
position requires an experienced data scientist adept in Salesforce, Seismic, Azure Cloud Computing Services(SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Power BI), and R, Python and SQL programming languages, with highly developed skills in analysing and visualising complex data. The individual will work independently as part of a team that uses agile methodology to work collaboratively with teams from Finance, Legal, HR, Pre-Contracts and ICT to process and model data in order to optimise business operations, improve decision making and enhance overall business outcomes. This role requires effective stakeholder management and the ability to present findings to senior leadership contributing to the organiszation’s objectives The role involves a commitment to safety, compliance, and fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation across teams.

Key Accountabilities

Business Performance:
o Explore and preprocess data collected from various sources in Azure Databricks, ensuring data quality and suitability for analysis.
o Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models using Python, R, or other relevant programming languages within Azure Databricks. These models may include predictive analytical models, market forecasting models, risk assessment models, or other relevant models tailored to the construction industry.
o Conduct exploratory data analysis and statistical analyses to uncover patterns, trends, and anomalies within data, providing actionable insights to
support executive decision-making.
o Document methodologies, processes, and findings in a clear and concise manner, maintaining thorough documentation for reproducibility and
knowledge sharing.
o Stay abreast of advancements in data intelligence, machine learning, applying new methodologies and tools to enhance analytical capabilities and drive innovation within the organisation.
Innovation and Improvement
o Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives and innovation opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
o Use machine learning to support predictive insights and prescriptive actions.
o Stay up to date on the latest in data intelligence, AI and construction technologies likely to be impacted by AI, namely – drones, robotics etc or other innovations.
Collaboration and Business Relationships:
o Present detailed analyses and insights to senior leadership, including the Managing Director and Executive General Managers
o Collaborate and share knowledge with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Legal, HR, and ICT, to gather and validate data.
o Engage with Business Unit leaders and Pre-Contracts Managers to ensure accuracy and relevance of data insights.
o Support senior executives in communicating key insights to lead management and stakeholders.
o Collaborate with business leaders to ensure data quality and alignment with business goals.
Governance and Reporting:
o Ensure adherence to all legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements.
o Assist in Pre-Contracts functions across other CIMIC Group businesses.
o Continuously seek opportunities to enhance performance and streamline processes.
o Create dashboards and reports to communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
o Use data intelligence tools to present complex findings elegantly, efficiently and effectively.
Core Competencies
Education and Qualifications
o Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or actuarial science or statistics or mathematics or data science or computer science or related field from a globally recognised tertiary institution.
Experience
o 2+ years of experience as a Data Scientist in a corporate environment
o 2+ years of experience in CRM and Enablement platforms (preferably Salesforce and Seismic)
o 2+ years of experience in Azure Analytics Architecture (SQL; Data Factory; Data Lake; Databricks, Power BI)
o 2+ years of experience coding in R, Python, SQL and using Power Query and DAX
o 2+ years of experience analysing and visualising data
o Understanding of cloud services in Azure used for deploying AI models and handling data operations.
o Experienced in Gen-AI frameworks and libraries such as but not limited to Langchain, Llamaindex, Autogen, pandasA
