We are looking for a Process Engineer with experience in SME for laser and resistance welding. In this role you will work with our automation team supporting some of our most strategic projects with key customers

Responsibilities

  • Process characterization, improvement and optimization demonstrated in several projects
  • Develop robust and repeatable procedures for high precision components using Laser Beam Welding (LBW) and Resistance Welding
  • Discuss design & technical specific information with customers and act as the SME for joining technology
  • Generate machine specifications, documentation, and manufacturing instructions
  • Create and maintain partnerships with equipment suppliers to ensure ongoing support and new technology knowledge
  • Support qualification and ramp-up of manufacturing equipment including but not limited to laser welding systems
  • Collaborate closely with internal customers to define requirements and align solutions to meet our customers objectives
  • Some travel required to customer sites to ensure processes and quality (~25%)

Job Requirements

  • BSc degree in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
  • 7-10 years of experience working in process set up and improvement specially laser and welding soldering
  • Advanced understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials and mechanics
  • Familiarity with electrical machine controls and software to interact effectively with those groups
  • Demonstrated applied knowledge of Quality tools such as Failure Modes Effect Analysis (FMEA)
  • Experience with robotics, vision inspections, control pneumatics, high pressure test pneumatics, thermal control systems, hydraulics, various manufacturing processes such as resistance welding, laser welding, pressing, soldering, crimping, heating, etc.
  • Develop maintenance joining training program and perform the training
  • Support and assist maintenance team in troubleshooting difficult breakdowns and chronic equipment failures, Root Cause analysis and long-term fix implementation
  • Work with team to generate equipment concepts, costs, schedules, and proposals
  • Supervise and provide additional technical support to engineering team during mechanical design to ensure that specifications are met.
  • Performance of customer equipment buyoffs to prove system will process parts to customer satisfaction
  • Knowledge of robotics, automated inspection, pneumatics, component feeders, thermal control systems, and various manufacturing processes such as resistance welding, laser welding, crimping, soldering, dispensing, and press fitting
