The Linode/ACC Authentication team handles authentication for Linode and Akamai Control Center, including passwords, SSO, MFA, S2S authentication, and fraud detection. We work with OAuth, SAML, and TOTP, ensuring security and clean code. As a critical part of Akamai systems, we take pride in our role. As a Software Engineer Intern, you'll participate in the whole software development life cycle. You will work on new projects and build innovative technologies from scratch. Collaborating across the business, you will support multiple products and help deliver the design of customer solutions.

As a Python Software Engineer Intern, you will be responsible for:

• Contributing to enterprise-level cloud technology
• Learning about authentication and security
• Cleaning coding
• Performing automated testing
• Designing and developing highly scalable and secure software using modern microservice architecture
• Collaborating with Developers, QAs, Architects, Program and Product Managers and many other global roles

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Be a student in Computer Science or related field (at least in 3rd semester)
• Have experience in Python programming language and strive to write clean code
• Have experience with Linux and basic understanding of networking protocols (TCP, IP, SSL/TLS, UDP, DNS or HTTP)
• Have basic knowledge of REST principals
• Have a good understanding of agile software development lifecycle
• Have ability to test developed functionalities
• Be open to learning new tools and technologies
• Have excellent written and verbal English communication skills

Work in a way that works for you

Our 6-month intern program starts in July. The program requires you to be available 40 hours per week during summer months (July-September). We offer the opportunity to work part-time during the academic year (October-December).
