The Business and Corporate Development team enables DeepMind's mission by identifying, supporting, shaping, negotiating and managing strategic opportunities to partner externally. We work in direct collaboration with our world-leading AI researchers and engineers, and other partner teams developing an understanding of DM’s research and business strategy and connecting these to business development needs.
We are looking for a Business and Corporate Development Associate/Manager to support deals and partnerships across the organisation. This role would suit someone who has 1-3 years experience in M&A/investment banking/corporate development and has a passion for impactful research, and enjoys a fast-paced, fluid and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner with team leads and internal stakeholders to proactively identify new external opportunities and potential gaps/assets to accelerate impact, assess risks and initiate/further engagement.
- Support negotiations with external partners to carry out collaborative research, license technology and data, acquire assets etc.
- Support cross-functional teams on key transverse strategic initiatives, managing coordination with teams such as Research, Legal, Operations, Finance, Strategy and Operations, Policy & Program Management.
- Track and analyse partnerships and deals, establishing internal connections and identifying opportunities to maximise impact
- Conduct industry and market research, and track industry and innovation trends to help identify new business growth opportunities
- Conduct financial modelling, valuation analysis and prepare presentations for deal support
Job Requirements
- Excited by our mission and AI / Machine Learning
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics or other related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience
- 1-3 years of M&A or transaction experience in a Corporate Development or Venture Creation environment
- Experience in financial modelling
- An interest in business development, commercial negotiations and strategic partnership management
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, and interpersonal skills, confident in engaging researchers and engineers
- Strong problem-solving, analytical and reasoning skills to support deals and handle technical, contractual and financial issues
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively influence and communicate cross-functionally with all levels of management including senior executives
