This role will oversee the development of circular economy programs for Rubicon customers and manages the continuous development and implementation of the circular strategy in order to reduce the environmental impact through all stages of the product development cycle. The ideal candidate must be an authority on sustainability and/or circular economy methodologies, possess a broad knowledge of the recycling industry, and be able to scope and manage consulting engagements.
Responsibilities
- Increase diversion from the landfill in partnership with Key Account Managers (KAMs) and specialized service providers
- Define Rubicon’s strategy within the fast-moving circular economy landscape; identify an innovative and expansive set of solutions and deploying programs with Rubicon customers
- Lead the management and execution of existing client requests as well as business development opportunitie
- Scope technical advisory engagements for customers to include key project objectives, implementation components, and specific deliverable
- Oversee engagement execution, handle scoping matters / changes, and proactively communicate with customer on overall progress and timelin
- Create deliverables with engagement team, present to customer, and undertake post-project evaluations to identify areas of strength and improvemen
- Develop creative advisory solutions for cost effective management and diversion of client’s materials; Manage circular economy solutions needs to ensure customer and supplier satisfactio
- Analyze client’s current waste and recycling programs, develop cost/benefit analyses to lower cost and improve resource recovery effectivenes
- Maintain a foundation of subject matter expertise and experience; seek continuing education opportunities; be willing to invent, conceptualize new ideas and innovations; share knowledge; and be a decision-maker; Provide guidance, training and advisory services to internal staff, customers, and leadership as needed
- Project management and other management functions; Work with internal staff to ensure that facts, details, and content are correct so that projects, programs, and other deliverables meet or exceed the needs of the stakeholders, regulations, policies, standards, and best practices
- Achieve financial and performance goals and objectives
- Manage the requests that the CES Team receives to meet client expectations; Research, identify, and manage specialized service providers needed for selected material types and to fulfill specialized service roles; Visit client sites to develop and/or evaluate the effectiveness of SMM programs, etc.
- Support business development activities; Be thought-provoking innovator; lead and promote cutting-edge opportunities
- Communicate frequently with internal/external customers and suppliers
- Assist in providing content to the Marketing/Communications and Sustainability Teams
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of related work experience in waste, recycling, or environmental field
- Prior consulting experience, with ability to effectively manage consulting engagement lifecycles from project scoping, implementation, and deliverable conveyance Strong entrepreneurial analytical, project management, and technical advisory skills
- Success leading multiple projects at once and harnessing internal resources to meet and exceed client expectations
- Proven ability to think proactively, address gaps, and develop new solutions to complex problems
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team
- People management experience
- Strong analytical and project management skills
- Proven skills to set priorities, achieve deadlines, and manage multiple tasks at the same time; Able to stay flexible, work independently, switch tasks quickly and adapt to new situations
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Deep knowledge of sustainability and circular economy concepts
- Experience with waste and recycling transportation and processing negotiation and protocol
