Laboratory Assistant / Associate Operations Specialist

The Operations group at Immunai supports the laboratory teams in all areas of laboratory management, including procurement and environmental health. This team is seeking a motivated Laboratory Operations Assistant to assist with the day-to-day lab operations, the procurement system, inventory, and general lab duties. This includes, but is not limited to ordering and receiving laboratory supplies, maintenance of the inventory database, and supporting the Operations team and our scientists.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution of reagents, supplies, consumables, and any other inventory items related to the operation of the laboratory
  • Ensures that the laboratory staff are aware of goods ordered, received, stored, and coordinates the distribution of supplies within the laboratory on a daily basis
  • Maintains the inventory database daily and performs quarterly physical inventory of all laboratory inventory and supplies
  • Maintains an efficient system of inventory control to ensure proper levels of supplies in the laboratory available for use while allowing for no wasting of inventory or reagents due to expiration or improper storage
  • Maintains lab and storage areas to optimize current capacity
  • Assists with disposal of lab waste and works with lab members and EHS to maintain a culture of health and safety SOP compliance
  • Works closely with the laboratory team, facility, EHS, and other staff

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of one (1) year of hands-on laboratory experience in a BSL-2 environment or related lab experience
  • Or a High School diploma with 1- 4 years of experience hands-on laboratory experience in a BSL-2 environment or related lab experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • General computer skills, including spreadsheets (MS Excel) and word processing (MS Word)
  • Ability to work within constantly changing priorities, a creative problem solver that’s not afraid to ask questions
  • Strong communication and social skills, able to work in a team environment and interact with team members with a wide variety of needs
  • Must be able to lift ~25 -50 lbs. on occasion
