Head of Events (Field) Marketing

In this role, you'll lead our Events (Field Marketing) team. This high-impact role will build and lead a team to work cross-functionally between field marketing, product marketing, sales / commercial, communications, brand, and our thought leadership subject matter experts to drive event strategy development and execution. You will identify key metrics and success factors to measure the effectiveness of leveraging events to build connections with customers, prospects, partners, and industry experts. The comprehensive events strategy that you and your team will be responsible for will govern our participation in external industry tradeshow and conferences  as well as Flatiron hosted events to engage with customers and prospects. As the leader of Events Marketing, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the expansion of the Flatiron business across the community oncology, real world evidence, hospital & health system, clinical research, and international footprints that we operate in.

Reporting to the VP of Sales and Marketing, you must be comfortable with managing through ambiguity, influencing across a wide range of cross functional stakeholders, and selling your events strategy and vision to senior leadership. You will lead a team that ensures events are prioritized and maximize company investments based on expected results. In order to be successful in this role you must coach your team, model collaboration, inspire creativity, listen well and discern needs, and quickly be able to problem-solve.

Responsibilities

  • Empower a team to manage the day-to-day planning and execution of customer and/or partner facing events, industry conferences, including the attendee management, staffing and collaborating with the communications team on pre- and post-event communications
  • Oversee the execution of the events plan starting with the concept stage, through vendor contracting, planning, registration and on-site execution
  • Communicate the overall events strategy and vision to senior leadership throughout the organization
  • Identify industry tradeshows and company hosted events that will drive customer engagement and brand promotion
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to determine the audience event strategy, goals and objectives for each event
  • Provide context to the team on the business environment for each event to create an event plan that includes the overall experience design, content proposal, branding and communications
  • Lead strategic decision making frameworks and planning of  events focusing on outcomes that drive business impact and maximize return.
  • Support the team on the negotiation of contracts for both large and small scale events.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the global marketing events calendar and manage budget tracking for assigned events
  • Collaborate closely with cross audience stakeholders to identify brand event KPIs, metrics and ROI, and create reporting dashboards for key leadership
  • Recommend process improvement initiatives to help streamline and optimize the event planning and evaluation process globally
  • Collaborate across the organization to ensure consistent alignment and transparency of event goals and strategies
  • Be the subject matter expert on event trends and recommend new event opportunities and monitor competitor event activity
  • Manage vendor relations and ensure compliance with corporate rules and guidelines

Job Requirements

  • BA or equivalent degree, 7+ years of experience in event strategy, planning and execution, preferably in healthcare technology or pharma with at least 3 years managing people.
  • Knowledge of Virtual Events Platforms, Registration Platforms, and software such as: Cvent, Salesforce, Hopin.
  • Experience in creating and executing user conferences and/or driving the overall presence at large-scale industry events.
  • Exceptional cross-organization/cross-functional project management and collaboration skills.
  • Storytelling skills to sell in ideas and learner mindset to constantly identify, share, and apply insights for continual improvement of experiences.
  • Ability to set and drive requirements across multiple functional areas.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills are required.
  • Detail-oriented, team-oriented while knowing how to prioritize effectively.
  • Budget Management skills to forecast, manage, and summarize event spend with internal teams and vendors.
  • Adaptable under pressure with quick deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and directed person, requiring minimal supervision for successful assignment completion.
  • Experience in identifying and building event KPIs, metrics and ROI reporting highly preferred
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
